Terra-Tory is a word play of Territory.
Print the world map on the canvas and embroider it with yarn, following the colors of the political map created by the CIA.
This work comes from imagining how the shape of the world is changing, inspired by the migration from Latin America, representing another view of the world map. The tension of the threads deforming the shape of the canvas became a metaphor of the migration and morphing of world boundaries.
Wearing a world map centered on Asia and a world map centered on Europe and the United States, I doubt what defines the relationship and identity with the world by crossing the viewpoint and body.
Embroidering of materials, once denied to me as "too feminine", are now available to me as a medium for artistic expression.
